What we do.
For the past 50 years, the Cambridge Sports Awards in partnership with the City of Cambridge, has recognized and celebrated the accomplishments of many of this city's outstanding athletes and the individuals or organizations who have made it possible. A special ceremony or banquet is held annually on the first Friday of November to honour these individuals.
The next Sports Awards Banquet will take place in Friday, November 1st, 2024, celebrating our 51st anniversary!
The Cambridge Sports Awards celebrates individuals in the following categories:
Athlete of the Year
Tim Turow Award
The ultimate honor celebrating exceptional prowess: the Athlete of the Year Award recognizes dedication, triumph, and a true sports star.
High School Team
of the Year
Exemplifying youthful determination and athletic excellence, the High School Team of the Year Award applauds outstanding achievements in scholastic sports.
Team of the Year
George Hill Award
United in excellence and victory, the Team of the Year Award honors a collective that epitomizes collaboration, skill, and achievement.
Sports Organization
of the Year
Championing the backbone of sports development, the Sports Organization of the Year Award salutes visionary groups shaping our athletic landscape
Sport Contributor
of the Year
Don & Benita Rope Award
Recognizing the driving force behind the scenes, the Sport Contributor of the Year Award celebrates those who elevate sports in our community.
Professional Athlete
of the Year
Honouring the pinnacle of athletic achievement, the Professional Athlete of the Year Award celebrates unparalleled skill, dedication, and sportsmanship.
Heart of Sport
The Heart of Sport Award pays tribute to individuals or organizations embodying the true spirit, passion, and dedication that fuel sports.
The Committee relies on nominations from sports clubs and the general public for consideration for these awards.
Several finalists are chosen from a variety of sports for the Tim Turow Athlete of the Year Award. The winner is revealed at the Sports Awards Ceremony/Banquet. The Outstanding Contributor Award recipient is also revealed at this event. The remaining categories are announced prior to the Ceremony.
